6/10/09: End of an Era :(
It's been an unforgettable year for the Beat. Thanks to everyone who's supported us by coming to all of our events and concerts. Our spring extravaganza "The Real World: Beat USA" went down without a hitch! Check out new photos on the Photos and Music page! We were also lucky enough to produce our first professional CD. 4/30/09: It's Been a Long Time!
The end of the school year is slowly creeping up on us, and we thought an update was in order. It’s been an incredibly successful year for The Beat. We’ve all grown so close to each other this year. We frequently use the word family to describe how we feel toward our fellow members. The commitment we’ve all shown to the group has truly reflected in the music we produce. We’ve had the opportunity to sing at some great venues. Fall quarter we sang at UCSD’s family day, Camp Kesem’s Fundraiser, Warren College’s winter wonderland concert, and many more. We also produced our annual Fall concert The Best A Cappella Show Ever in UCSD’s East Ballroom. It was a great success! We heard from all of UCSD’s groups (The Tritones, DOTs, and Frequency) as well as SDSU’s Sunset Clefs, and had nearly 400 people in attendance. You can watch videos of our performance on our Youtube Channel. During Winter quarter, we focused nearly all of our energy on the ICCA competition, which was held at UC Berkeley. We competed against some of the best groups in California, and we definitely held our own. We also were strong competitors in UCSD’s intramural bowling league! The Beat Down (great team name right?) was one of the top teams this year, and we always had a great time bowling together every week after our rehearsals. Spring quarter has just begun, and we’re very excited for all of our upcoming performances. During the past few weeks we’ve performed at the 4th annual Ballroom Show hosted by The Tritones, and UC Irvine ‘s CAFE. Please keep an eye out for more upcoming performances, including our 3rd Annual Spring concert extravaganza on June 3! It should the best one yet, with a theme that will knock your socks off!
